Apple is getting ahead of the competition once again, by preparing to roll out a post-quantum cryptographic protocol for iMessage that sets new standards for Cybersecurity.
Although quantum computers do not yet pose a mainstream threat, it is widely recognised that hackers are accessing and storing encrypted data with an eye to decrypting it when the technology becomes available.
Therefore, it is incumbent on businesses that deal with large amounts of sensitive data to get ahead of the opposition and secure it against future threats.
Apple is setting a strong example here, and of course the company’s high profile will go a long way to raising awareness around the critical issue of quantum cryptography.
